Greyhound Gathering - Kanab '99

Greyhound Gathering 1999

Over the weekend of May 1 and 2,1999, the Greyhound Gang of Kanab, Utah, sponsored the first annual Greyhound Gathering - the West Coast's answer to the East Coast's Dewey Beach. It was two days of fun, food, frolicking, hiking, more food, and - of course - GREYHOUNDS!

Nine people and fifteen greyhounds represented the Greyhound Guild at the Gathering.

Leading the Parade

Members of the Greyhound Guild dressed in Renaissance garb help lead the Saturday morning parade through downtown Kanab.

Smile and wave!

"Smile and wave! Tis a parade!"

After the Parade

The Guild members gather for an impromptu photo shoot after the parade.

Saturday Lunch

Guild members wait in line for lunch on Saturday, while another member tends the hounds. Staying in garb for lunch helped the Guild members "stand out in the crowd."

Janet and Annmarie

On Sunday morning, everyone gathered for a 1.5-mile walk outside of Kanab. Here are two Guild members at the summit during the walk.

Lunch on Sunday, in more standard attire.

Sunday Lunch

Just milling about after lunch.

Enjoying a rest with the hounds.

Just remember, if you are not in the front of the pack, the view never changes!>
